Assistant Project Officer – JOSP Somalia

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an Assistant Project Officer to support the implementation, coordination and development of its Somalia Country Programme, with a focus on the Jowhar Off‑stream Storage Program (JOSP) and related projects such as RESTORE and Maareynta.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in cross‑programme coordination, resource mobilisation and project development for JOSP and associated initiatives.
• Develop, edit and manage communication materials, including briefs, reports and outreach content.
• Coordinate engagement with partners, consortium members and local stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
• Provide operational and administrative support for UNEP activities, including documentation, data tracking and logistical arrangements.
• Support environmental peacebuilding, conflict‑resolution mechanisms and capacity‑building components within the programme.

Required profile

• Experience in project coordination and communication within environmental or development programmes.
• Ability to produce clear communication materials and manage partner relationships.
• Familiarity with UN or multilateral project processes and reporting requirements.
