Biology & Science Teacher (Fixed-Term)

About the role

The Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board is seeking a qualified Biology & Science Teacher to join a school on a fixed‑term basis. The role involves delivering the Biology (6 periods) and Science (16 periods) curriculum, supporting student learning and contributing to the board’s commitment to high‑quality education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess Biology and Science lessons in line with the national syllabus.
• Integrate cross‑curricular links such as literacy, numeracy and critical thinking.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of subject developments and pedagogical approaches.
• Provide feedback, support and mentorship to students.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning environment.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification meeting Teaching Council of Ireland standards.
• Current registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland (certificate required).
• Ability to demonstrate the four key teaching competences: professional knowledge, professional practice, communication/relationship building, and self‑awareness.
• Applicants in their final year of a qualifying programme may apply, subject to successful registration upon results.
