Cluster Director Engineering

About the role

The Cluster Director of Engineering provides strategic and technical leadership for two luxury hotels – Fairmont The Norfolk and Fairmont Mara Safari Club. Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, this senior role is responsible for engineering, maintenance, energy management and sustainability performance across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the engineering organisational structure at each property in line with Accor brand standards.
• Align engineering operations with Accor Luxury Brand technical policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide functional guidance and technical oversight to engineering teams at both hotels.
• Conduct regular walk‑abouts and technical inspections of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and life‑safety systems.
• Oversee maintenance of building fabric, plant rooms, sewage and fresh‑water systems, emergency generators, air‑conditioning, irrigation, kitchen and laundry equipment, cooling systems, swimming pools, lighting, audio‑visual, carpentry, painting and transportation equipment.
• Manage routine maintenance in public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, F&B outlets, back‑of‑house areas and external zones.
• Recommend staffing adjustments, structural changes and resource allocation to optimise engineering performance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in engineering management within a luxury hotel environment.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams across multiple properties.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire protection and life‑safety systems.
• Experience with energy management, sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent organisational and strategic planning skills.
