About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Climate Change Division is seeking a motivated intern to support its Adaptation & Resilience Branch, Climate Finance Unit in Nairobi. The role focuses on fundraising and market research to strengthen UNEP’s climate finance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor calls for proposals, funding opportunities and assist in drafting concept notes and proposals.
  • Conduct market research and competitive landscape analysis to inform the unit’s fundraising strategy, including mapping donor priorities and partnership opportunities.
  • Prepare pitch decks, presentations and briefing materials for donor engagement.
  • Compile data, case studies and impact narratives for fundraising and reporting documents.
  • Coordinate with other UNEP units to identify synergies and mutual interventions.
  • Participate in internal meetings and help prepare reports and communication resources.
  • Undertake additional duties as needed.

Required profile

  • Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Degree or background in International Relations, Geography, Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Communications, Business Administration, or related fields focused on climate change, sustainable development, or international environmental governance.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French is an asset.
