Integrated Maintenance Strategy & Implementation Consultant (Remote)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to design, pilot and operationalise an integrated maintenance strategy for health technologies across primary health care settings. The assignment will focus on improving equipment functionality and service continuity in immunisation, oxygen delivery, diagnostics and broader health services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct baseline assessments of existing maintenance practices in selected pilot countries.
• Develop a coordinated maintenance model that brings together cold‑chain, medical devices, oxygen systems, ICT infrastructure, waste management and solar energy solutions.
• Lead pilot implementation, monitor performance and document lessons learned.
• Strengthen government ownership, technical capacity and financing mechanisms for sustainable maintenance.
• Produce evidence‑based guidance and scalable models for broader adoption.

Required profile

• Proven experience in health systems, equipment maintenance or related technical fields, preferably in low‑resource or fragile settings.
• Ability to work remotely with occasional travel to project sites.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cold‑chain equipment, medical devices, oxygen systems, ICT infrastructure, waste management systems and solar energy solutions.
