Lead Solution Architect

About the role

As a Lead Solution Architect at Absa, you will shape and deliver high‑impact, cross‑domain technology solutions that align with the bank’s strategic objectives across Africa. You will work closely with delivery teams and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, reusable architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer requirements and business capabilities to define clear solution problems and design blueprints.
• Lead design‑thinking workshops and create end‑to‑end solution blueprints, roadmaps and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with project and program managers to align solution delivery with strategic goals from ideation through commercialization.
• Choose appropriate tools, technologies and architectural patterns (e.g., domain‑driven design, micro‑services, loosely coupled integration).
• Provide architectural guidance and accountability for solution design decisions across the organisation.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with experience in modern software design practices.
• Proven ability to negotiate and reconcile divergent stakeholder opinions.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Experience delivering technology solutions in a financial services or banking environment is a plus.
