Legal Officer (P3) – UN Appeals and Accountability Section

About the role

The United Nations Appeals and Accountability Section is seeking a Legal Officer (P3) to support the implementation of UN standards of conduct and provide legal advice on internal justice matters.

Key responsibilities

• Implement UN standards of conduct for all personnel categories across the Secretariat.
• Provide strategic and legal advice on internal justice matters.
• Represent the Secretary‑General before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
• Handle disciplinary matters relating to Secretariat staff members.
• Oversee and coordinate actions to prevent and respond to unsatisfactory conduct.
• Support UN Secretariat managers in addressing conduct and discipline issues.

Required profile

• Legal background with experience in administrative or internal justice matters.
• Familiarity with United Nations standards of conduct and disciplinary processes.
• Ability to work within the UN Secretariat framework and support managers.
