Meteorological Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Meteorological Technician to join Amentum’s team supporting a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves collecting and analysing weather data to ensure mission‑critical operations have accurate atmospheric information.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, record and analyse meteorological data such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, pressure and precipitation.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain weather monitoring instruments and automated observation systems.
• Prepare and disseminate routine and special weather reports in line with Navy and Amentum standards.
• Assist forecasting efforts by compiling observations and identifying weather patterns.
• Monitor severe weather and issue timely alerts to operational personnel.
• Maintain accurate logs, digital records and equipment maintenance documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, aviation and operational teams to ensure data accuracy and mission readiness.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in meteorology, atmospheric science or weather observation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in meteorology preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining beyond hire date and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
• Previous experience in an austere OCONUS environment and with a multi‑national workforce is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain country‑specific visas.
