About the role
Amentum is seeking a Meteorological Technician to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will collect and analyze weather data to ensure mission readiness and safety for operational personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, record, and analyze temperature, humidity, wind, pressure, and precipitation data.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain weather monitoring instruments and automated observation systems.
- Prepare and disseminate routine and special weather reports in line with Navy and Amentum standards.
- Assist forecasting by compiling observations and identifying weather patterns.
- Monitor severe weather, issue timely alerts, and maintain accurate logs and equipment documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, aviation, and operational teams to ensure data accuracy.
Required profile
- 1–3 years of experience in meteorology, atmospheric science, or weather observation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical meteorology training preferred.
- Valid passport (minimum one year beyond hire) and ability to travel internationally.
- Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
