Senior Accountant – Finance & Reporting

About the role

Gas & Go is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its accounting and financial reporting functions in Nairobi. The role involves managing the full spectrum of finance activities, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insights to support the company’s growth in the petroleum, retail and logistics sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and liquidity planning.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations such as VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHA and corporate tax.
• Coordinate annual audits and respond to auditor queries.
• Monitor inventory controls, stock movements, valuations and variance reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, financial models and management reports.
• Liaise with banks, suppliers, auditors, insurance providers and regulatory authorities.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support management with financial analysis.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• CPA(K) qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant accounting experience, including at least two years in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and financial reporting standards.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software, preferably SAP.
