Senior Project Engineer – Manufacturing

About the role

Burn is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead manufacturing engineering projects within its Nairobi factory. The role will drive new product introductions, optimise production processes and enhance operational efficiency while collaborating with Production, Quality, Design Engineering and NPD teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team of Project Engineers and interns, planning work, managing resources and ensuring project deadlines are met.
• Coordinate with the NPD team to align project resources with the product roadmap.
• Prepare project deliverables such as forecast figures, assembly cycle time studies, takt time calculations, line balancing, layout design and CAPEX management.
• Develop documentation including SOPs, work instructions, jigs, fixtures, QC gauges and tooling set‑up sheets.
• Collaborate with production and quality departments to identify continuous‑improvement opportunities, improve line balancing and reduce headcount.
• Track and source assembly line items, tools, equipment and packaging solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in sheet‑metal or manual assembly environments.
• Proven ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Simulation tools: MATLAB, EAGLE, Proteus.
• CAD software: Solidworks, AutoCAD.
• Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred).
• PMP certification (preferred).
