Senior Specialist Finance and Accounting

About the role

The Senior Specialist – Finance & Accounting leads day‑to‑day financial operations for the Area Office, reporting to the Finance Director. You will ensure accurate transactional processing, statutory compliance, budgeting, donor reporting and audit management while strengthening internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, month‑end and year‑end close cycles, including journal entries, accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements and donor‑specific account reconciliations.
• Administer Workday ERP processes, ensuring chart‑of‑accounts integrity and providing first‑line user support.
• Oversee accounts payable, procurement coding, vendor statement reconciliations and compliance with procurement standards.
• Partner with HR to process payroll, timesheets and payroll allocations accurately.
• Manage travel advances, petty cash, liquidity and banking relationships.
• Lead the budgeting cycle, produce monthly Budget vs. Actuals reports and drive forecasting with variance analysis.
• Support audit, tax compliance, grants management and provide guidance to the Resource Development team.

Required profile

• Degree in Financial Accounting or Reporting.
• Proven experience in finance operations, budgeting and audit management.
• Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and donor grant compliance.
• Ability to lead a small team and build finance capability across the office.
