Technical writer for Behavioural and Social drivers survey manuscripts

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to lead the drafting, development, and submission of scientific manuscripts based on Behavioural and Social Drivers (BeSD) study findings across eight countries. The role is home‑based and focuses on translating research into policy‑relevant knowledge products for global immunisation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and synthesize study materials, datasets, reports and background documents from eight BeSD country studies.
• Develop structured outlines for each manuscript, defining framing, research questions and key messages.
• Draft eight country‑specific manuscripts ensuring analytical rigour and alignment with target journal requirements.
• Produce a synthesising manuscript that consolidates cross‑country findings and highlights implications for global immunisation policy.
• Conduct targeted literature reviews to strengthen positioning of findings.
• Create figures, tables and visualisations to support data presentation.
• Incorporate feedback from UNICEF, partners and co‑authors through multiple review rounds.
• Support manuscript submission to peer‑reviewed journals and respond to reviewer comments through to publication.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social and Behaviour Science, Science Communication, Scientific Writing or a related field.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in scientific writing, research translation or knowledge management in global health or immunisation.
• Proven track record of drafting and publishing peer‑reviewed manuscripts in high‑impact journals.
