Aircraft Workshops Technical Assistant

About the role

The Aircraft Workshops Technical Assistant supports maintenance technicians in the aircraft workshop, ensuring components, tools and equipment are handled safely and efficiently. The role is performed under supervision and follows Kenya Airways and aviation regulatory procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Clean components, parts and equipment according to supervisory instructions.
• Assist technicians in following Maintenance Manuals and airworthiness requirements.
• Handle, transport and store aircraft components and spares safely to prevent damage or injury.
• Use tools correctly, maintain their condition, and return them to designated locations.
• Maintain a tidy, hazard‑free work environment and clean workbenches after tasks.
• Support Technical Materials staff with loading, unloading and receiving aircraft spares, tools and equipment.
• Keep vehicles and equipment in good serviceable condition.
• Comply with all published Health and Safety standards.
• Perform any additional duties requested by technicians or engineers.

Required profile

• Minimum C grade in KCSE (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry).
• National Trade Test Certificate or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driving licence; heavy‑vehicle licence is an advantage.
• Computer literacy.
• Previous experience in airline or motor‑vehicle maintenance is beneficial.
