About the role

Neptune Software Ltd is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join its Nairobi team. The role focuses on building Java‑based enterprise applications and cross‑platform mobile solutions using Flutter, while collaborating with senior engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, test and maintain Java enterprise applications and RESTful APIs.
Build and support cross‑platform mobile apps with Flutter and integrate them with backend services.
Participate in all SDLC phases: design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.
Write clean, well‑documented code and take part in code reviews.
Integrate applications with databases, third‑party systems and payment platforms.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software defects in production.
Support deployment processes and continuously research new technologies and best practices.

Required profile

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
Recent graduate or up to 2 years of professional software development experience.
Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn modern development practices.

Required skills

Java (SE/EE), Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
RESTful API development and Microservices architecture.
Flutter, Dart, Android (Java/Kotlin) mobile development.
Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL & PL/SQL.
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React or Angular (advantageous).
Git, Maven or Gradle, Docker (advantageous), Linux/Unix.
IntelliJ IDEA or similar IDE.
