Aviation Calibration Technician

About the role

The Aviation Calibration Technician ensures that all aircraft instruments and related tools are calibrated to the highest safety and regulatory standards. Working in a busy ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory, you will support Kenya Airways’ maintenance operations by maintaining traceability and accuracy of measurement equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform calibration, repair, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, pressure, torque, and temperature aviation instruments.
• Maintain traceability to national and international standards, following ISO 17025 and EASA/FAA Part 145 requirements.
• Identify out‑of‑tolerance tools, label calibrated equipment, and manage calibration masters and reference standards.
• Document calibration results, uncertainties, and corrective actions in the calibration management system.
• Utilise ERP or specialised calibration software to schedule calibrations and track tool control.
• Interpret technical manuals, engineering specifications, and calibration procedures accurately.

Required profile

• Diploma in Applied Sciences, Metrology, Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 calibration laboratory supporting aviation maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of metrology principles, measurement uncertainty, and calibration tolerances.
• Familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks such as EASA, FAA Part 145, ISO 9001 and AS9100.
• Commitment to safety, risk awareness and compliance with hazardous material protocols.
