Budget Analyst

About the role

The Budget Analyst will support the National Land Imaging program within the U.S. Geological Survey, providing day‑to‑day financial management and analysis. This position requires occasional overnight travel and the use of a government charge card for official expenses.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in budget formulation, execution, and tracking for satellite mission programs.
• Conduct fiscal analysis and allocate funds across appropriated, reimbursable, and multi‑year budgets.
• Monitor, reconcile, and report on multi‑source accounts and inter‑agency agreements.
• Prepare year‑end close‑outs and variance analyses.
• Represent the program in bureau‑level financial and operational working groups.
• Guide support staff on business processes and execute special projects for program leadership.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to pass a background investigation.
• Proof of Selective Service registration for males born after 12‑31‑1959.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a government credit card.
• Ability to complete required training and a one‑year probationary period.
