Catering & Accommodation Trainer (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Catering and Accommodation Trainer will join the Our Lady of Mercy Vocational Training Centre in Nairobi, delivering both theoretical and hands‑on instruction to vulnerable youth. The role focuses on building practical hospitality skills that lead to employability in the catering and accommodation sector.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and workshop training in catering and accommodation operations.
• Develop lesson plans, training materials, assessments and practical demonstrations.
• Monitor student progress, evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Mentor learners, supporting their academic and personal development.
• Ensure all training complies with TVETA standards and other regulatory requirements.
• Participate in curriculum review, quality improvement and programme development.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Operations or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Education, Business Administration or related discipline (preferred).
• Pedagogy training from the Kenya School of TVET.
• Valid TVETA Trainer Registration Number.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, preferably in a TVET institution.

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of catering and accommodation operations.
• Advanced culinary skills.
• Familiarity with service technology used in hospitality settings.
