Clean Transportation Project Manager, Kenya

About the role

The ICCT is seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial professional to lead its vehicle policy portfolio in Kenya. As the organization’s first in‑country staff member, you will shape ICCT’s presence, build stakeholder relationships, and support the development of fuel‑efficiency standards and zero‑emission vehicle policies.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as ICCT’s primary representative in Kenya, cultivating relationships with government officials, NGOs, industry partners, academia, and media.
• Develop and implement Kenya‑specific policy strategies in collaboration with global program staff and communicate research findings to inform policy development.
• Organize outreach events, participate in conferences and meetings, and engage stakeholders to discuss and refine transportation policies.
• Produce technical reports, policy briefs, blogs, social media posts, and other communications summarizing ICCT research.
• Design and execute outreach and media strategies with the global communications team to raise the visibility of ICCT’s work in Kenya.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Kenyan policy‑making processes and established connections within government, industry, and NGOs.
• 3+ years of stakeholder engagement and/or research experience in the transportation sector.
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental science, policy, energy, transportation, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and coordinate with global colleagues.
