Content Associate – Kenya (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Content Associate will develop and manage Kenya’s content collection system, enabling cash‑transfer recipients to share their own stories. Working under the Manager of External Relations, the role supports field‑based storytelling and helps communicate GiveDirectly’s impact to external audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own information gathering and storytelling about programmes, identifying people, moments and field activities for high‑value content.
• Coordinate production, filming and editing of recipient stories and other field‑based media.
• Write and edit articles, recipient stories and related content, conducting interviews as needed.
• Generate, research and pitch content ideas aligned with Kenya’s programmes and strategic priorities.
• Develop and maintain a Kenya content strategy and editorial calendar.
• Translate complex programme, policy and external‑relations work into clear, compelling stories for diverse audiences.
• Improve and codify content‑collection practices, setting standards for quantity and quality of stories.
• Maintain a photo and video asset library with metadata tagging and consent tracking.
• Support training of in‑country teams on content‑collection practices.
• Collaborate with Partnerships, Growth and in‑country management to deliver cross‑functional content priorities.
• Drive innovation in creative styles and techniques for documenting impact.

Required profile

• Strong storytelling ability and experience gathering field‑based content.
• Comfort conducting interviews and working directly with programme beneficiaries.
• Capacity to translate complex development programmes into accessible narratives.
• Attention to detail in maintaining asset libraries and metadata.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and support training initiatives.
