Cost Controller – Hotel Finance

About the role

The Cost Controller will oversee cost‑control activities for the MGallery Hotel Collection in Nairobi, ensuring financial accuracy across food, beverage and material inventories. You will work closely with the accounting and control departments to provide daily and monthly cost summaries.

Key responsibilities

• Implement cost‑control objectives for the Gem Forest Nairobi – MGallery Collection.
• Audit material management activities, price and quantity variances, and inventory transactions.
• Verify recipe accuracy, manage outlet and kitchen inventory, and prepare daily Food & Beverage cost comparison reports.
• Reconcile officer and entertainment checks, prepare month‑end journal entries, and monitor data input by operational staff.
• Maintain organized files for cost audits, operating equipment, FF&E records, and non‑system tracked inventory.
• Conduct market surveys, spot‑check purchase orders, and investigate spoilage reasons.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles for storage, usage, and measurement of inventory items.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting/Finance with CPA, ACCA or CIMA progress.
• 2–4 years of cost‑control experience in a hotel environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with hotel POS systems.
• Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS).
• Proficiency in accounting software.
