Cost Controller

About the role

The Cost Controller will ensure accurate inventory management, cost analysis, and vendor assessment for a hospitality operation in Nairobi. Working closely with kitchen, bar, and finance teams, the role aims to maximise profitability by controlling waste, pilferage, and cost variances.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse inventory movement reports and investigate variances for the Mama Ashanti inventory.
• Participate in daily physical stock counts for kitchen and bar, and weekly/monthly counts for cellars.
• Validate and reconcile purchase orders, voids, and discounts in POS and back‑office systems.
• Perform daily and weekly stock variance calculations using the Hotsoft system.
• Ensure material usage aligns with approved recipes and flag deviations.
• Produce and circulate weekly purchase cost variance reports.
• Update monthly Fixed Asset reports and share discrepancies between Quickbooks and Hotsoft.
• Control food and beverage outlets to minimise wastage and improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management or related field.
• CPA finalist qualification.
• 3‑5 years of experience in cost control, inventory, stores or accounting, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of food & beverage costing, stock control and inventory management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical problem‑solving.
