Cost Controller

About the role

The Nairobi Safari Club is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to oversee cost control and stores operations within its hospitality division. You will ensure compliance with procedures, safeguard inventory, and support the finance team with accurate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise cost control and stores functions, monitoring stock levels, purchasing, receiving, storage, issuing, recording and re‑ordering.
• Conduct inventories, spot checks, reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare cost control reports, including variances, slow‑moving stock and month‑end inventory data.
• Maintain food and beverage recipes, menu costs, selling prices and usage controls.
• Protect inventory against waste, spoilage, damage and theft.
• Carry out market surveys and assist purchasing with pricing and availability information.
• Supervise, train and appraise cost control and stores staff.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
• Attend finance‑related meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of cost control experience in a hotel environment, preferably 4‑5‑star or international brand.
• Proven ability to supervise and develop teams.
• Willingness to undergo medical tests and obtain a Food Handler Certificate as required in Kenya.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with hotel systems such as Opera and Materials Control.
