Crane Operator

About the role

Victory Farms is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join its Lake Logistics team in Westlands, Nairobi. You will be responsible for safely moving equipment, materials and products using overhead cranes ranging from 1.5‑ton to 10‑ton capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes safely, verifying load weight, rigging, path and signals before each lift.
• Partner with the logistics team to assemble, position and disassemble cranes, ensuring proper anchoring and alignment.
• Perform daily pre‑start and end‑of‑shift inspections, record findings and report defects immediately.
• Handle material transfers, stack loads efficiently and reconcile inventory against paperwork.
• Uphold Victory Farms’ HSE policies, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Communicate lift plans and priorities clearly with supervisors, riggers and fellow operators using hand signals and radio protocols.
• Support special projects, maintenance shutdowns and any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• KCSE (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of D+.
• At least two years of hands‑on experience operating overhead cranes (1.5‑ton to 10‑ton) in an industrial, marine or aquaculture setting.
• Minimum two years of lift‑truck/forklift experience.
• Valid crane operator certification and, preferably, First Aid and Basic Fire Safety certificates.
• Ability to read and apply load charts, rigging tables and manufacturer limits.
• Physical capability to operate a Gantry Max lifting system and experience with lakeside or marine operations.
