Cyber Security Trainer

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Cyber Security Trainer to deliver hands‑on training and develop curriculum for our students and corporate clients. The role involves creating engaging learning materials and mentoring participants to build practical security skills.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, hands‑on cybersecurity training at the IST campus and client/offsite locations.
• Develop lesson plans, labs, assessments and training materials aligned with current security trends.
• Mentor students, provide technical guidance, evaluate performance and maintain student records.
• Administer examinations, supervise practical labs and ensure a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience; training or teaching experience is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CEH, CCNA Security or equivalent.

Required skills

• Network security, ethical hacking, penetration testing, vulnerability management, digital forensics and incident response.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows Server, Linux and cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of web application security (OWASP Top 10) and security frameworks (NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, Kenya Data Protection Act).
• Proficiency with tools such as Kali Linux, Wireshark, Nmap, Metasploit, Burp Suite and Nessus.
