Debt Collection Team Leader

About the role

The Debt Collection Team Leader will oversee a team of collectors, driving daily targets and ensuring compliance with Kenyan banking regulations. This role combines leadership, analytical reporting, and hands‑on collection activities to recover overdue credit and auto loan accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily/weekly collection targets across overdue accounts.
• Lead morning and evening team meetings, monitor performance and attendance.
• Track collection metrics, calculate commissions and prepare regular reports.
• Apply appropriate collection strategies based on aging (S0‑S4) and negotiate payment solutions.
• Handle escalated cases, resolve customer complaints and ensure compliance with CBK guidelines.
• Maintain accurate system updates, reconcile accounts daily and adjust strategies based on risk analysis.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of credit or auto‑loan collection management experience in Kenya.
• Minimum 1 year of proven team leadership.
• Fluent in English and Swahili.
• Strong knowledge of CBK collection regulations.
• Honest, results‑oriented and compliance‑focused.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
