Head of Lending (Kenya)

About the role

Moniepoint is launching its first market outside Nigeria in Kenya and needs a senior leader to build and run its lending business. As Head of Lending you will own the commercial and credit strategy, the full profit‑and‑loss and will be responsible for creating a profitable SME lending portfolio from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Own the lending P&L, including interest and fee revenue, cost of funds, credit losses and operating expenses.
• Develop and execute the commercial and credit strategy for SME lending, selecting target segments, loan products and pricing.
• Build the budget, forecast and reporting cadence to provide visibility into portfolio health and profitability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, Risk & Compliance, Finance and Growth teams to align underwriting, risk appetite, pricing and funding.
• Lead the launch and scaling of the SME lending offering, ensuring regulatory compliance and sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a lending business or credit portfolio with full P&L responsibility.
• Deep understanding of SME financing and the Kenyan market.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to set pricing and risk appetite.
• Track record of building profitable lending operations from inception.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
