HSE Specialist

About the role

The HSE Specialist supports the HSE Manager in safeguarding the health, safety and environmental wellbeing of all staff at the Nairobi plant and office. The role involves routine inspections, risk assessments and ensuring compliance with local HSE regulations and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating HSE policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily inspections of plant and office premises to identify hazards and recommend control measures.
• Monitor employee adherence to HSE policies and promote a culture of safety, sanitation and hygiene.
• Coordinate health surveillance, waste management and pest‑control activities.
• Support incident investigations, emergency response actions and implementation of preventive measures.
• Deliver HSE training and orientation for staff, contractors, visitors and clients.
• Maintain records of inspections, incidents, waste disposal and other HSE documentation.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (approximately 5 years) in health, safety and environment functions.
• Familiarity with Kenyan health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, inspections and incident investigations.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with internal departments, regulatory bodies and external vendors.
