Humanities Editor – Educational Publishing

About the role

Longhorn Publishers is seeking an experienced Humanities Editor to join its editorial team in Nairobi. The role focuses on reviewing and developing humanities educational manuscripts that align with the Competency‑Based Education (CBE) curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Source manuscripts and create innovative publishing projects.
• Edit and proofread humanities educational manuscripts to a high editorial standard.
• Ensure content is accurate, relevant, engaging and curriculum‑compliant.
• Collaborate closely with authors, reviewers and designers throughout the publishing process.
• Conduct content research, fact‑checking and quality assurance.
• Maintain consistency, coherence and appropriate progression of content across titles.
• Support the development of high‑quality CBE‑aligned learning materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a focus on Geography and History.
• At least 4 years of experience in book publishing, preferably educational publishing.
• Strong editing, proofreading, research and fact‑checking abilities.
• Good understanding of the Competency‑Based Education (CBE) curriculum and its requirements.
• Ability to develop and review accurate, engaging, learner‑centred content.
• Strong attention to detail and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience working with authors, reviewers, designers and publishing teams.
