ICT Officer I – Software Developer

About the role

The Meru University of Science and Technology is seeking an ICT Officer I to join its software development team. The role involves designing, building and maintaining applications that support the university’s academic and administrative functions. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments to deliver reliable and scalable IT solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy software applications using PHP, Python, C#, JavaScript and related technologies.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems, including Navision 2018 or Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Integrate external services via RESTful, OData, JSON and SOAP APIs.
• Configure and manage Windows Server environments.
• Design and optimise relational database queries in SQL or MySQL.
• Provide technical support for computer hardware, networking and user issues across the institution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering.
• Three (3) years of software development experience in a higher‑education or comparable environment.
• Professional registration and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Required skills

• Navision 2018 or Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Microsoft certification in Navision or Dynamics 365 BC.
• Proficiency in PHP, Python, C#, JavaScript.
• Experience with RESTful, OData, JSON and SOAP API services.
• Windows Server configuration and management.
• SQL and MySQL query development.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and networking.
