Information Officer

About the role

The United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Nairobi is seeking an Information Officer to lead and coordinate high‑impact communications initiatives across Kenya, Uganda and the Seychelles. Reporting to the Director of UNIS Nairobi, the incumbent will support the UN’s mission to inform the public, civil society and Member States about UN activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy, planning, development and implementation of large, complex communications campaigns, including global promotion initiatives and public information programmes.
• Provide advice and expertise to managers and senior officers on public affairs issues, anticipate and resolve communications or public‑relations challenges, and ensure information integrity.
• Develop strategic partnerships with media, governmental bodies, private sector, educational institutions and international organisations to maximise promotional impact.
• Prepare or oversee the creation of diverse communications products, including crisis media statements, narratives and messaging that engage target audiences across multiple platforms.
• Evaluate the results and impact of communications activities to inform future strategies.
