Investments Operations Officer

About the role

The Investments Operations Officer will report to the Head of Investments Operations and ensure accurate trade settlement, corporate actions processing, and daily reconciliations across unit trust portfolios. The role supports the fund management function within CIC Insurance Group’s diversified insurance and financial services business.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure trades, allocations and settlements are accurately reflected on custodian statements.
• Review daily entries, verify data correctness and advise on required actions.
• Update NSE prices and exchange rates in the core fund management system.
• Identify and follow up on unmatched transactions with custodians, fund administrators and dealers.
• Reconcile daily M‑Pesa and bank purchases, flag unmatched accounts and notify fund administrators of suspense amounts and discrepancies.
• Prepare and record monthly reconciliation reports for unit trust purchases.
• Track and process corporate actions and perform monthly portfolio holdings reconciliation.
• Compute portfolio performance and reconcile agent commissions.
• Prepare payments for custody and trustee fee invoices and maintain records for VAT‑withheld finance payments.
• Resolve queries related to interest, commission, valuation and tax.
• Assist in process improvements and system testing for new updates.
• Create new products and onboard clients following successful tenders and RFPs.
• File monthly portfolio valuation reports from CICAM and Custody.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business‑related studies.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIFA or CISI (preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, preferably in fund management or the banking sector.

Required skills

• Proficiency with fund management systems.
• Experience in trade settlement and reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of corporate actions processing.
• Familiarity with M‑Pesa and bank transaction reconciliation.
