Junior Urban Resilience and Stakeholder Engagement Consultant

About the role

UN‑Habitat is seeking a Junior Urban Resilience and Stakeholder Engagement Consultant to join its Urban Lab in Nairobi for a five‑month assignment. The consultant will support the design and implementation of climate‑resilient urban solutions, focusing on water management, climate adaptation and effective stakeholder participation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on urban planning and design, with emphasis on water, climate and urban resilience.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement processes to ensure inclusive and coordinated project outcomes.
• Support the Urban Lab’s multidisciplinary team in developing proposals, technical reports and knowledge products.
• Contribute to the Regional Advisory & Projects Support Section by delivering cross‑cutting technical assistance for climate‑related projects.
• Assist in monitoring and evaluating project activities to align with UN‑Habitat’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• University degree in urban planning, geography, environmental science or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
