Lead Food Service Worker – Galley Operations

About the role

The Lead Food Service Worker will oversee daily galley operations on Diego Garcia, ensuring high‑quality food preparation, cleanliness, efficiency and strict adherence to safety and sanitation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate food service workers and cooks to complete tasks efficiently.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning and service to meet menu and customer requirements.
• Enforce food handling, safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP protocols.
• Provide training and guidance on proper techniques and equipment use.
• Monitor food quality and ingredient standards to maintain customer satisfaction.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any malfunctions.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen, dining and service areas.
• Manage inventory of food supplies and ensure sufficient stock.
• Prepare daily and weekly work schedules for staff.
• Address service issues and implement corrective actions based on customer feedback.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of food service experience, including food preparation or kitchen operations.
• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience in a food service environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, handling and sanitation standards (HACCP).
• Ability to operate basic kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers and dishwashers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and a valid passport (minimum one year).
• Eligibility to obtain required visas and pass contract medical requirements.
