About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a Legal Consultant to provide high‑quality legal and procedural advisory services that support the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) and strengthen UNEP’s governance and decision‑making processes.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality legal and procedural advisory services to the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC).
- Support UNEP’s governance and decision‑making processes through rigorous legal analysis.
- Facilitate the development, negotiation and adoption of an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution.
- Offer strategic legal advice to intergovernmental bodies and treaty negotiation processes.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in legal advisory for intergovernmental negotiations.
- Strong background in environmental law and treaty development.
