About the role
Kenya Airways is seeking a skilled Maintenance Machinist to join its Production Technical workshop in Westlands, Nairobi. The role involves machining, modifying, and restoring aircraft components to meet strict aviation standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders and CNC equipment to produce and repair aircraft parts.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and aviation specifications such as ATA 100 and EASA guidelines.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers and gauges.
- Perform surface‑finishing processes including honing, deburring, polishing and thread repair.
- Maintain compliance with aviation maintenance documentation, SOPs and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and inspectors to validate tolerances and manage rework.
- Record work performed on work orders and job cards and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Machining or Aircraft Maintenance Technology.
- Minimum 3 years experience in an aviation or aerospace machine‑shop environment.
- Aircraft maintenance licence (advantageous) and relevant CNC/machining certifications.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, aviation materials and component standards (AS9100, Part 145, CMM, SPM, Sbs, ADs).
Required skills
- CNC and manual machining techniques.
- Operation of lathes, milling machines and grinders.
- Precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Surface‑finishing processes (honing, deburring, polishing, thread repair).
