Manager, Communications & Partnerships

About the role

The Institute of Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Africa is looking for a Manager, Communications & Partnerships to shape and execute its communications strategy across the continent. This senior position will drive the narrative on sustainable urban mobility, build high‑impact partnerships, and raise the profile of ITDP Africa among governments, donors, media and civil‑society actors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan that leverages digital, social and traditional media.
• Oversee the production of publications, multimedia content and campaign materials aligned with policy windows.
• Manage media relations, press releases and spokesperson activities.
• Identify, cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, donors, research institutions and NGOs.
• Represent ITDP Africa at regional and international conferences and events.
• Ensure African perspectives are integrated into global ITDP communications.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of professional experience in communications, public relations or partnership development.
• Proven track record of leading communication teams and delivering multi‑channel campaigns.
• Strong storytelling ability with experience translating technical transport concepts into accessible content.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills.
