Monitoring & Reporting Internship – UNEP Regional Seas

About the role

This 6‑month internship with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi supports the Regional Seas Branch of the Ecosystems Division. The intern will assist in monitoring, reporting and coordination activities across 18 Regional Seas programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and review implementation progress of Regional Seas Branch (RSB) projects and the 18 Regional Seas activities.
• Prepare monthly and bi‑annual reports using the Integrated Planning Monitoring and Reporting (IPMR) system.
• Compile technical content for UNEP’s regular reporting on Regional Seas Programme activities, consolidating inputs from all Regional Seas.
• Facilitate the submission of reports by tracking requirements, templates, timelines and related requests.
• Maintain and update tracking tools and databases related to Regional Seas coordination.

Required profile

• Internship position with a duration of 6 months.
• Interest in environmental policy, marine and coastal ecosystems, and sustainable development.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Integrated Planning Monitoring and Reporting (IPMR) system or similar reporting tools.
