Part-Time Finance Manager

About the role

Strong Start Limited, a growing social enterprise in early‑childhood education, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead day‑to‑day financial operations on a part‑time basis. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting and robust cash‑flow management to support the organisation’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete and up‑to‑date financial records and prepare monthly management reports (P&L, cash flow, receivables, payables, budget vs. actual).
• Monitor the organisation’s financial position, flag risks and provide insights to senior leadership.
• Track income and expenditure across programmes and locations, support annual budgeting and produce cash‑flow forecasts.
• Oversee revenue and client accounts: invoicing, payment allocation, collections, reconciliation of registration, attendance and payment data.
• Conduct regular bank, M‑Pay, and other payment‑channel reconciliations; review supplier invoices and expense documentation.
• Prepare payroll information and ensure accurate staff‑related payments.
• Maintain financial controls, organised supporting records and ensure recurring finance processes are completed on schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of finance or accounting experience (mid‑level).
• Hands‑on experience with financial reporting, budgeting, cash‑flow management and payroll processing.
• Ability to work independently and switch between strategic oversight and detailed transactional work.
• Familiarity with Kenyan banking, M‑Pay and typical education‑sector revenue streams.

What we offer

• Competitive salary: KES 45,000 – 60,000 per month (visible).
• Part‑time, onsite role in Nairobi’s Westlands district.
