Plant Manager

About the role

Unga Holdings Limited is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead its feed milling operations in Westlands, Nairobi. The role combines financial stewardship, supply‑chain integration and data‑driven performance management to ensure safe, high‑quality production.

Key responsibilities

• Own plant profitability by meeting targets for operating profit, production cost and EBIT.
• Develop, manage and control annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Drive cost‑optimization initiatives across labour, raw materials, utilities, maintenance and logistics.
• Lead the S&OP process to align production, procurement, inventory and customer demand.
• Collaborate with procurement and commercial teams to optimise supplier performance and customer service levels.
• Monitor and improve plant performance through dashboards, KPI reviews and root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of production management experience, with at least four years in senior management.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, ERP systems and statutory/regulatory requirements for feed milling.
• Familiarity with Food Safety Management Systems, especially ISO 22000.
• Understanding of continual improvement, financial management and supply‑chain operations.
