Platform Development and Analytics Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Platform Development and Analytics Consultant to strengthen its digital architecture and foresight capabilities. The consultant will work within the Data Analytics, Statistics and Intelligence Section to enhance existing platforms, migrate applications, and develop new web solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Improve system efficiency and optimize the UNEP GEF Project Implementation Report (PIR) platform for the FY 2026 cycle.
• Migrate the CITES Monitoring of the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) application from PHP to Drupal and support deployment on UNICC servers.
• Enhance the Foresight application portal, add a user‑management module, and move configuration data from Excel to a database.
• Integrate new signal inputs from Microsoft Forms into the database and build a pipeline to feed these signals into the platform.
• Develop a Household Waste Categorization web application for Lesotho using artificial intelligence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in platform development, system optimization, and data migration.
• Background in environmental or international organization projects is advantageous.
• Ability to work onsite in Nairobi for a 12‑month consultancy.
