Pre-Opening General Manager (Hotel)

About the role

The All Africa Conference of Churches is opening a new Best Western franchised hotel at its Desmond Tutu Conference Centre in Nairobi. The Pre‑Opening General Manager will lead all activities required to launch the property and, based on performance, will transition to the permanent General Manager role.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the pre‑opening project, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
• Manage brand compliance and liaison with the Best Western franchise.
• Set up operational, recruitment and human‑resource processes.
• Implement systems and technology, including property management and finance tools.
• Prepare the hotel for opening, overseeing readiness checks and launch execution.
• Once opened, oversee daily operations across restaurant, housekeeping, front office, stores, kitchen and marketing.
• Develop and monitor budgets, control expenses, set room rates and track revenue.
• Maintain financial records and ensure profitability of the hotel as a strategic business unit.

Required profile

• Resident of Kenya.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in hotel pre‑opening or general management.
• Mid‑level qualification as indicated in the posting.
