Principal DevOps Engineer – Cloud & Automation Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive the architecture, automation, deployment, and operation of our cloud‑based software products. The role sits within an Agile engineering environment and works closely with Development, QA, Operations, Architecture, and Product Management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in cloud architecture and infrastructure design initiatives.
• Lead the design, build, maintenance, and optimisation of AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub and related tools.
• Manage containerised environments using Docker, Kubernetes and ECS.
• Develop configuration management processes with Chef or Puppet.
• Automate application and infrastructure deployments to improve reliability and speed.
• Provide cloud administration, user provisioning, permissions, and workflow configuration.
• Implement monitoring and operational visibility using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Collaborate across Development, QA, Operations and Product teams to promote DevOps best practices.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE or related fields.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership in an Agile environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for complex infrastructure, security, scalability and deployment challenges.

Required skills

• AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, ELB, RDS, Route 53, WorkSpaces, CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub.
• Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
• Configuration management: Chef, Puppet.
• Automation and scripting experience.
