Principal DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the design, automation and operation of our cloud‑native platforms. The role sits in an Agile engineering team in Nairobi and works closely with Development, QA, Architecture and Product Management to deliver reliable, scalable services.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement cloud architecture on AWS, including compute, networking, storage and security services.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub and related tools.
• Automate deployment and configuration of containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes and ECS.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and collaborate on complex infrastructure, security and scalability challenges.
• Manage cloud administration tasks such as user provisioning, permissions and monitoring.
• Implement observability using CloudWatch, CloudTrail and other monitoring solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of hands‑on experience in DevOps or cloud engineering.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale solutions on AWS.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code and automated delivery pipelines.
• Experience leading technical teams in an Agile environment.
