Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer will lead the planning, execution and oversight of procurement activities for Kaziweza Limited, ensuring compliance with Kenyan government regulations and internal policies. This role involves preparing annual procurement plans, managing tender processes, and coordinating the delivery of goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual procurement plan and budget proposal and coordinate its implementation.
• Draft, review and manage contract agreements in line with established procedures.
• Participate in tender openings, commercial analyses and evaluate bids in liaison with relevant departments.
• Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures and systems.
• Issue tender documents, bidding requests and quotations for regular and specialized goods and services.
• Schedule procurement activities to align with approved budgets and promote best practices in supply chain management.
• Ensure prompt delivery, receipt, verification, inspection and posting of ordered goods.
• Prepare tender evaluation schedules and purchase/service orders for approval and award.
• Manage performance and appraisal of procurement staff.
• Participate in periodic stock‑taking and inventory control exercises.

Required profile

• At least five years of relevant procurement experience, with a minimum of three years in middle‑management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences or related field.
• Professional procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS, CPSP‑K) and membership in a recognized body such as KISM or CIPS.
• Strong knowledge of Government Procurement Regulations and the Constitution of Kenya (Chapter 6).
• Experience in public‑sector procurement is essential.

Required skills

• Computer applications proficiency (certificate in computer applications).
