Product Lead

About the role

Product Leads at Tamu Labs drive business and product development for AI‑native operating systems serving hospitality and retail merchants in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, you will own the end‑to‑end process from discovery and technical scoping to system design, build and production rollout, working closely with restaurant operators, merchant teams and the founding team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of verticals, guiding merchants from onboarding to ongoing adoption.
• Rapidly prototype, build and ship features using Claude Code as the primary development workflow.
• Spend time on merchant sites, observe workflows and translate insights into product decisions.
• Ensure product quality by testing edge cases, device compatibility, payment flows and connectivity issues before release.
• Engage directly with clients—from SME restaurant owners to enterprise executives—to gather requirements, run demos and close deals.
• Document successful practices, create playbooks and tooling that scale across the organization.
• Provide field feedback that informs the product roadmap.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and shipping software, whether through side projects, production systems or personal apps.
• Comfort with Claude Code or a strong willingness to adopt AI‑assisted development as the main workflow.
• Ability to define scope and deliver in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.
• Understanding of real‑world product constraints such as unreliable networks, shared devices and non‑technical users.
• Excellent written communication for specs, bug reports and asynchronous updates.
• Confidence presenting demos, conducting sales conversations and closing merchants.
• Generalist mindset that moves fluidly between product thinking, technical execution and customer interaction.
• Based in Nairobi with familiarity with Kenya’s restaurant, café and enterprise landscape.
