Programme Management Officer – Climate Finance

About the role

The Climate Change Division of UNEP is seeking a Programme Management Officer to lead the implementation of the Innovative Finance for the Amazon, Cerrado and Chaco (IFACC) initiative. This role will coordinate a partnership between UNEP, The Nature Conservancy and the World Economic Forum to drive systems‑level change in commodity markets, ensuring that food production no longer drives deforestation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning, execution and monitoring of the IFACC initiative across multiple countries and stakeholder groups.
• Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, and reporting mechanisms in line with UNEP’s climate finance objectives.
• Facilitate collaboration with partners (UNEP, TNC, WEF) and national authorities to align financing mechanisms with sustainable land‑use practices.
• Identify and promote business models that enable deforestation‑free commodity production while supporting rural livelihoods.
• Prepare technical and policy briefs, progress reports, and presentations for senior management and external donors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project or programme management within climate finance, sustainable agriculture, or environmental conservation.
• Strong understanding of international climate and biodiversity agreements and the challenges of land‑use change.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with fluency in English.
