Programme Support Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Quality Assurance Section within the Policy and Programme Division. The role focuses on advancing UNEP's work on gender equality, disability inclusion, and Sustainable Development Goals related to poverty and inequality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing UN‑SWAP, UNDIS and UNEP’s SDG 1 and 10 initiatives, including analysis and reporting.
• Support gender mainstreaming across programmes, conduct gender‑marker reviews and prepare related communications.
• Research emerging trends on gender, environmental and social safeguards and summarise findings.
• Help organise capacity‑strengthening workshops, youth activities and project review processes.
• Draft impact stories, create presentations using PowerPoint or Canva, and contribute to UNEP’s digital platforms.

Required profile

• University degree (or final year) in International Affairs, Gender Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development or related field.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French is an asset.
• Strong interest in quality assurance, poverty eradication, and inclusion of vulnerable groups.
