Quantity Surveyor / Construction Cost Estimator

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor / Construction Cost Estimator to join our team in Nairobi. The role involves translating design drawings into accurate cost data and supporting the project team throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and Bills of Quantities.
• Calculate labour and material requirements for each construction stage.
• Develop tender documents, quotations and cost proposals.
• Monitor site expenditure against approved budgets and report variances.
• Maintain up‑to‑date construction rates and cost databases.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers and project managers.
• Conduct site visits to verify measurements and progress.
• Produce weekly and monthly cost reports for project stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Quantity Surveying.
• At least one year of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Practical knowledge of construction materials, labour requirements and building processes.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan construction rates and procurement practices.
• Membership or registration with a relevant professional body is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience preparing Bills of Quantities and cost reports.
