Safeguarding Manager

About the role

The Safeguarding Manager will lead BRAC Kenya’s safeguarding programme, ensuring the safety and protection of staff, partners, and programme participants. This senior position oversees policy implementation, risk management, and case handling across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the annual safeguarding plan and budget.
• Design, deliver and refresh safeguarding training for staff, partners and service providers.
• Lead awareness campaigns for programme participants.
• Serve as the primary reporting channel for safeguarding concerns and violations.
• Integrate safeguarding risk assessments and indicators into programme design, monitoring, evaluation and partnerships.
• Oversee case management, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with BRAC International SOPs.
• Coordinate confidential investigations, risk assessments and disciplinary actions in partnership with HR.
• Provide survivor‑centred support and follow‑up according to established guidelines.
• Represent BRAC Kenya in safeguarding networks and external forums.
• Prepare high‑quality communications, reports and contributions to the organisational Annual Report.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and training abilities.
• Proven experience handling sensitive and confidential safeguarding issues.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience working in NGOs or humanitarian settings is preferred.
